thelma + louise half marathon

on june 7th i ran my 3rd half marathon! it was the Thelma + Louise half marathon and my sister camilla ran it with me, it was so great! our trip was so much fun. vince and i went down thursday afternoon, and anna + pete got there later that evening, then camilla + chad joined us the next day.

i somehow am missing pictures from one of the greatest parts of the trip -- when we did a fun hike to a swimming hole... so that will have to have it's own post when those photos are located!

the race itself was awesome! my only complaint is i wish they had started it earlier in the morning so it wouldn't have been so freakin' hot! it started at 6:30am -- and if it had started even at 6am that would have made a huge difference! the first 4 or so miles were in shade but the rest of the time was out in the bright hot sun! got myself a good tan though :) around mile 6 or 7(?) they had a cool tribal type drum group performing for us, which was fun. it was a out and back course -- so we got to see/hear them twice! i finished in the time i wanted, maintained the pace i wanted -- so i feel really great about this race. it was also really important for me to do -- because the last time i ran a half, i ended up really disappointed after and frustrated with running in general (read about it here). not this time! i am still so in love with running and can't wait to run my next race!

here is a good summary of our trip: we swam a lot, ran a lot, went to Arches National Park and Canyonlands (where i got some major anxiety from the high cliffs and drop offs! yikes!), did some off-roading, and just generally had a killer time! can't wait to go back and do it all again!
