a few weekends ago we took a little roadtrip down to las vegas for a wedding reception for my dear friend natasha & her new hubby bobby. tasha and i have known each other since we were babies. i beleive the story goes that our moms were visiting teaching companions and they would bring both of us girls with them and we just kind of grew up as bffs. tasha moved away when were about 6, and it was really sad. but! she came out to visit every summer and stayed with us for a few weeks. so, even though we were far apart -- we still saw each other each year. as we have gotten older, and our paths have gone in such different directions -- we have still mananged to keep in touch and occasionally see each other. tasha came out for our wedding in 2006 and we went out to california to see her the week she graduated from college. so, while we haven't been able to see each other every summer in a long time -- we have made a point to be there for each other at some of the big moments in life.
natasha and bobby were married in thialand (where tasha lives doing ministry work for her church) and i was so happy when she told me she'd be doing a stateside reception! her home church is in las vegas, so that made the trip even easier (her mom lives in california, so i thought it might be there which would have still be doable, but vegas is much easier to get to!).
my sister camilla joined us on the trip too (natasha is like our 7th sister, she is seriously a member of our family), which made it even more fun! we stayed with a friend of camilla's, which was really, really nice. on our way down for the first hour or so, we drove through a crazy weird blizzard but then it was smooth sailing (driving) from there. when we arrived there, we got lunch and shopped a bit at the outlets to kill some time before it was time to go to the reception. the reception was great, and it was so nice to meet her husband bobby, who is a darling british gent with the cutest accent!! the night was fun as natasha and bobby sat and together shared their story with us (which is actually pretty hilarious) and shared their plans for the next few years with ministering in their church in thialand. it was such a blessing we were able to go and i'm so glad we did.
also, huge shout out to my in-laws for puppy sitting for us over the weekend! scouty loved it!
